This week's featured coin is a 1930's commemorative honoring the bicentennial of Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk is the state's second largest incorporated city. It's one of nine cities that comprise the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, officially known as the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC MSA.
The town was established in 1619, by Sir George Yeardley. It is bordered by the Elizabeth River to the west, and the Chesapeake Bay to the north.
