April 23, 2013
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has released its America’s Founding Fathers 2013 Currency Set. Each set features a Series 2009 $1 note and a Series 2003A $2 note bearing the portraits of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, respectively. Both currency notes are from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and have matching serial numbers beginning with “2013.”
This set is packaged in a tri-fold folder, and each note is protected by a clear acid-free polymer sleeve. This exclusive set is limited to 5,000 and is priced at $19.95. An order limit of 50 sets per household was in affect until April 22. Bulk pricing is available at $16.95 for quantities of 50 or more. This product is offered during calendar year 2013 only.
The BEP also introduce its 2013 Intaglio Print Subscription Program, “Ideals in Allegory.” This year’s commemorative program is dedicated to “female allegorical figures representing peace, justice, and liberty” and features “a compilation of unique engraved allegorical vignettes focusing on the age-old art of intaglio printing.”
The first card, Peace, will be released on June 3. The second card, Justice, will be released on July 8. The third and final card, Liberty, will be released on Aug. 13, in conjunction with the BEP’s participation at the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Ill.
To participate in the 2013 Subscription Program, collectors must subscribe by June 2. According to the BEP, each intaglio print will ship after its first day of sale.
The “Ideals in Allegory” Subscription Program is $51, a savings of $9 off the individual card purchase price.
