With roughly one day to go before sales closed, collectors had ordered 243,226 two-coin West Point silver American Eagle sets during a four-week order period ending June 6.

That number exceeds the 224,981 two-coin San Francisco silver American Eagle sets sold in 2012.

How much higher the 2013 set will climb depends on last-minute collector behavior. For the 2012 set, a surge in demand before the order period closed sent the number up. This was followed by a wave of order cancellations as collectors got cold feet when they learned one of the coins in the set would be available in another offering.

The two-coin “W” set was priced at $139.95.
