James Ricks has opened Atlas Numismatics for business.

After 12 years of running the world coin department for Northeast Numismatics, Ricks has begun his own firm.

Ricks has acted as a consultant to both collectors and dealers and keeps an active international travel schedule in search of new material, he said.

Atlas maintains an inventory of rare and high quality coins, primarily world issues from the Renaissance to modern times, with occasional selections of ancient, early medieval and United States coinage.

Interesting and choice issues in medallic art are also available.

The firm operates its own website and invites hobbyists to visit at for more information.

The firm maintains offices in Brooklyn, N.Y., and may be visited by appointment only. All inventory is stored off premises.

The address is 10 Jay Street Suite 706, Brooklyn, New York 11201.
