2014 Silver Eagle Sales Begin Jan. 13|
November 08, 2013
Rationing of silver American Eagle bullion coins is expected to continue in 2014, according to a memo sent by the U.S. Mint to its Authorized Purchasers.
The last allocation of 2013-dated silver American Eagle bullion coins will be on Dec. 9, 2013. Orders for 2014 American Eagle silver bullion coins will be accepted by the Mint beginning on Jan. 13, 2014.
These dates are slightly different from those of one year ago. Then the last order date for the year was Dec. 17 and the first order date of the new year was Jan. 7.
However, demand a year ago exceeded the Mint’s ability to fulfill even though 7,498,000 silver American Eagle bullion coins were made available in the month of January 2013.
Rationing of the silver Eagle supply continued throughout 2013.
There is no rationing of gold American Eagle or Buffalo bullion coins.
There also is no last specified order date in 2013. The Mint simply says supplies will be made available until they are gone.
They may not run out. The Mint says it still has a quantity of 2012-dated half-ounce and quarter-ounce gold American Eagles.
The first order date for obtaining 2014-dated gold American Eagle and Buffalo bullion coins is Jan. 2, 2014.
Once the Authorized Purchasers receive the new coins, they quickly supply them to the rest of the nation’s bullion coin sellers.
