A small but high-quality group of English hammered and early milled gold featured in Noble Numismatics November sale in Melbourne, Australia.

Top price was obtained by well-struck examples of an Elizabeth I one pound and half pound gold. Both fetched above catalog values for their grades.

The half pound with lis mm came from the early milled coinage, S 2543. Graded VF, it realized U.S.$11,828.

The one pound was sixth issue with tun/tun mm, S 2534. It came with a gVF grade and had little trouble in fetching the equivalent of U.S. $13,889.
