Mint Stats: Platinum Sells in Dribbles When It's Offered
 | By David C. Harper, Numismatic News July 23, 2008 |

No 2008 platinum proof American Eagles were sold during this reporting period. They are not currently on sale at the Mint Web site.
The uncirculated 2008-W platinum American Eagles registered some very small increases. For the one ounce, the sales amounted to 32 this week, bringing the overall total to 135. The half ounce was up by 16, the quarter ounce actually declined by 6 and the tenth ounce went up by 148. The four-coin set rose by 100.
The weekly silver bullion American Eagle jumped by 322,500 coins to 483,500, but that is little more than one-quarter of the June sales. Of course, July is not over.
Gold bullion buyers must prefer American Eagles to Buffalo coins this month because the one-ounce Eagle rose by 11,500 pieces as compared to an increase of 1,000 for the Buffalo.
The 14-coin 2008 clad proof set registered sales of 34,966 this week to go over the half million mark.
