Hammered at $55,000 in Lyn Knight Currency Auctions’ 5th Annual Lenexa International Show and Auction, Dec. 7-9, was a Series 1905 “Technicolor” $20 Gold Certificate, Fr. 1180, graded PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ.

The show and sale were held at the Knight Auction Facility, 14148 Santa Fe Trial Drive, Lenexa, Kan. Prices do not include the 15 percent buyer’s fee.

Selling for $50,000 was an 1869 $20 Demand Note, Fr. 127, PCGS Superb Gem New 68 PPQ. It was described as “an amazing $20 Rainbow that is as lovely as can be.”

An 1871 $2 No. 1 The Merchants National Bank of Burlington, Iowa, charter 1744, Fr. 389, described as “the only First Charter known to exist on this bank,” sold for $45,000 in VF+.
