1902 N.D. $10 Red Seal National Surfaces After Long Search
 | By Bank Note Reporter December 28, 2009 |

Fergus Falls, Minn., dealer Steve Frendin reports that years of searching has led to discovery and purchase of a 1902 $10 Red Seal National Bank Note from Osnabrock, N.D.
According to Frendin, census figures show that only 29 Red Seal nationals are known from North Dakota with eight large size and four small size size from the First National Bank of Osnabrock.
“The existence, even the creation of this note seems unlikely given the fact that today’s population numbers about 134, and in the 1900 census only 334 people were counted in Osnabrock Township,” Frendin noted.
He adds that credit for the discovery of this note goes to a central Minnesota collector whose collection includes two of the five known notes from Pelican Rapids, Minn., and that the Osnabrock Red Seal now resides in the collection of a prominent North Dakota collector.
